Shaving legs
When I was a young girl, I do not recall seeing my mother ever shaving her legs. Because I never saw her do it, it never crossed my mind for me to shave my legs. Also, it was never a discussion that I ever had with my friends or my cousins. The topic was just never discussed when I was my girls age.
When my oldest daughter was in the sixth grade, she asked me if she could shave her legs. I know she was asking because she had friends that shaved their legs. I’m almost 46 years old and I’ve never shaved my legs, so I knew it was peer pressure for her to want to shave her legs. When she asked, I told her no. She asked a few other times and my answer was the same. By the time she was in the seventh grade, I found out that she was shaving her legs. I wasn’t happy about it, but what could I do once she had started?
My youngest daughter is in the seventh grade and she has been asking me if she could shave her legs. I was giving her the same answer.
While we were watching the Presidential results last night, my oldest daughter mentioned that her sister has been shaving her legs. She tried to deny it. I felt her legs and she in fact have shaved her legs. I told both of them that once you start shaving your legs, you have to continue because the hair grows back thicker. I told both of them that BEFORE they started shaving their legs. I guess they wanted to find out the hard way!
My oldest already regrets it, because it’s something she has to keep up. My youngest will soon learn and she’ll be the type to stop just because she doesn’t feel like it anymore….she’ll walk around with hairy legs, but that will be what she gets for being disobedient!…..mother knows best!
